Established in 1992, the provincial economic development zone—Rushan Economic Development Zone has a master plan of 20 square meters, with a construction area of 12 square meters. With the increase of more than 30% annually in such economic indexes as foreign funds utilization, export value, GDP and financial revenue, it has become an important base for foreign trade processing and export, boasting such industries as Machine Building, Electronics, Food Processing, Textile Dyeing and Finishing, Garments Processing, and Medicine and Chemical Industry. Up to now, the accumulative foreign projects approved reach up to 120, with contracted foreign fund utilization and direct foreign fund utilization of  $1200 million and $700 million respectively.
